Skywise Astral Services

Building the ships that carry tomorrow.

Skywise Astral Services is a full-service starship manufacturer, modular systems developer, and commercial support organization serving independent operators, corporations, colonial governments, research organizations, and specialist agencies throughout the Spinward Marches.

From compact scouts and fast couriers to merchant vessels, passenger ships, support craft, industrial carriers, and large mobile facilities, we design and construct ships for the realities of interstellar travel. Every Skywise vessel is built with durability, serviceability, operational flexibility, and long-term value in mind.

Our ships are not designed merely to leave the shipyard. They are designed to remain useful through decades of changing routes, contracts, owners, technologies, and mission requirements.

The Fire Class Modular Transporter Series

The flagship of the Skywise Astral Services fleet is the Fire Class Module Transporter Series.

Built around standardized 30-ton and 100-ton modules, Fire Class vessels allow owners to alter the purpose of a ship without committing to a lengthy and expensive structural refit.

A vessel carrying bulk freight on one voyage may be reconfigured for passenger service, scientific research, medical support, exploration, colonial development, military logistics, or specialized commercial work on the next.

The ship remains the same. The mission changes.

Fire Class vessels are available in a wide range of sizes, from the compact 100-ton Spark scout to the 1,000-ton Firestorm modular carrier and X-Boat tender. Standard models provide dependable Jump 2 and 2G performance, while selected FX and FXT variants offer Jump 3 capability for operators requiring greater reach.

Extended XT models provide additional displacement and module capacity while retaining the familiar layout, handling, and operational systems of their standard counterparts.

Standardized Mission Modules

At the heart of the Fire Class system is our extensive catalogue of interchangeable mission modules.

Skywise Astral Services produces modules for a plethora of service functions, including:

  • Bulk, refrigerated, secure, and hazardous cargo
  • Fuel transport and fuel processing
  • High, middle, low, and short-range passenger service
  • Private residences and diplomatic accommodation
  • Medical care, disaster relief, and refugee support
  • Exploration, survey, and scientific research
  • Colonial housing, agriculture, utilities, and administration
  • Workshops, manufacturing, mining, salvage, and repair
  • Military logistics, troop support, command, and security
  • Communications, education, hospitality, and commercial services
  • Vehicle, cutter, fighter, and small-craft support

Because our modules use standardized dimensions, connections, support systems, and handling points, they can be transferred between compatible vessels with minimal delay.

A module purchased for one Fire Class ship may continue serving as your fleet expands. Operators can therefore invest in capabilities rather than repeatedly replacing entire vessels.

More Than a Shipbuilder

Skywise Astral Services supports vessels throughout their operational lives.

Our services include:

  • New starship construction
  • Custom vessel design
  • Module manufacture and integration
  • Commercial refits and conversions
  • Inspection, maintenance, and repair
  • Fleet planning and mission configuration
  • Used vessel and module sales
  • Financing, leasing, and short-term rental
  • Replacement parts and technical support

For operators with unusual requirements, our design teams can develop custom modules or complete specialized vessels. Wherever possible, these designs retain compatibility with the wider Skywise modular system.

Travelling Production Shipyards

SAS Lighting Production Yard
S.A.S. Lighting Production Yard (#03, S.A.S. Suntop shown)

Skywise Astral Services operates four mobile production shipyards converted from former 60,000 ton Azhanti Lightning class military vessels.

After decommissioning, these ships were extensively rebuilt as self-contained travelling manufacturing centres. Their internal production lines, fabrication shops, assembly bays, engineering departments, and testing facilities allow them to construct Fire Class vessels and standardized modules far from the major industrial worlds.

These mobile shipyards can bring production capacity directly to developing regions, frontier markets, major colonial projects, and fleet customers who cannot afford to wait for vessels to arrive from distant shipbuilding centres.

Although their exterior profiles still reflect their military origins, their purpose is now entirely constructive.

Where warships once carried weapons, Skywise now carries shipyards.

Built for Independent Operators and Growing Fleets

We understand that not every customer is a megacorporation or planetary government.

Many of our customers are independent merchants, explorers, family-run transport companies, small research teams, charter operators, colonial cooperatives, and ambitious crews purchasing their first vessel.

Our modular approach allows these operators to begin with the capabilities they need today and add new modules as opportunities arise.

A small freight business can add passenger accommodation. A survey company can install a laboratory. A colony transport can later become a hospital ship, construction vessel, or regional trader.

Your vessel should not limit the future of your business.

Fire Class Modular Transporter Series

Traveller

Skywise Astral Systems Presents the Fire Class Modular Transporter Series

For centuries, starship owners have been forced to accept a difficult compromise. Purchase a freighter, and it remains a freighter. Buy a passenger liner, and it may spend much of its life hauling empty staterooms when cargo would have been more profitable. Every new mission requires a different vessel, or an expensive refit that keeps the ship tied up in dock for weeks.

Skywise Astral Systems changes all that.

We are proud to introduce the Fire Class Modular Transporter Series, a revolutionary family of starships designed around standardized 30-ton and 100-ton mission modules.

Instead of rebuilding your ship to meet changing demands, simply exchange modules and configure your vessel for the next contract.

One week you may be hauling bulk ore to an industrial world. The next, the same ship can be transporting luxury passengers, serving as a mobile hospital, carrying troops, deploying scientific laboratories, or supporting mining operations on the frontier.

The ship remains the same.

The mission changes.

A Ship That Evolves With Your Business

Every Fire Class vessel is built around a rugged modular structure and standardized attachment systems. Mission modules can be exchanged quickly at any properly equipped starport, allowing owners to adapt their ships to changing markets without lengthy yard periods or expensive structural modifications.

Whether your work involves freight, passenger transport, exploration, disaster relief, military logistics, colonial development, scientific research, or specialized commercial operations, there is a module configuration designed for the task.

Because modules are standardized across the entire Fire Class family, today's investment continues to provide value as your fleet grows. A module purchased for a smaller vessel can often be transferred directly to a larger Fire Class ship when your business expands.

Performance Without Compromise

Unlike many modular designs that sacrifice performance for flexibility, every Fire Class vessel is engineered to exceed the capabilities of comparable commercial starships.

Every standard Fire Class vessel includes:

  • Jump 2 performance
  • 2G acceleration
  • Standardized modular architecture
  • Rapid mission reconfiguration
  • Excellent cargo-to-displacement efficiency

Need greater range?

Choose one of our FX or FXT variants, providing Jump 3 capability for operators working beyond established trade routes.

Certain FX and FXT configurations require the installation of a dedicated 30-ton fuel module when operating at maximum jump capability.

Standard and XT Models

Most Fire Class vessels are available in both Standard and XT, Extended Transport configurations.

The XT series uses the same basic airframe while increasing displacement by 50 tons. This provides additional module capacity and greater mission flexibility without significantly changing the vessel's handling characteristics, bridge layout, or maintenance procedures.

Crews can therefore move between standard and XT vessels with minimal retraining.

The Fire Class Family

1. Spark, 100 Tons

Small enough for independent operators, capable enough for professional exploration.

The Spark is our modern interpretation of the famous Type S Scout. Designed around a single 30-ton module, it offers remarkable flexibility for courier work, exploration, survey missions, passenger transport, and frontier operations.

Available module configurations include:

  • Accommodation for 6 high passengers
  • Accommodation for 12 middle passengers
  • Low berths for up to 54 passengers
  • General cargo transport
  • Scientific laboratories
  • Medical facilities
  • Workshops and repair facilities
  • Survey and exploration equipment

Need local system capability? Replace the standard module with our Tutor Class 6G Ship's Boat, providing exceptional in-system performance.

The Spark XT extends the design to 150 tons and accommodates two 30-ton modules, dramatically increasing mission flexibility.

An additional innovation is the Spark's external dimensions. Although the Spark is a complete 100-ton starship, its hull fits within the same cargo envelope as one of our standard 100-ton modules.

This allows larger Fire Class vessels to carry fully operational Spark scout ships as cargo. A Spark can be transported to the frontier, deployed upon arrival, and recovered again before the carrier departs.

2. Ember, 200 Tons

The Ember redefines the independent merchant.

Comparable in size to the classic Type A Free Trader, the Ember offers performance that leaves traditional commercial designs behind.

Standard equipment includes:

  • Jump 2
  • 2G manoeuvre drive
  • Capacity for three 30-ton mission modules

A traditional Type A Free Trader is normally limited to Jump 1 and 1G performance. Even the Type A2 Far Trader typically provides only Jump 2 and 1G.

The Ember provides Jump 2 and 2G performance as standard, together with unmatched modular flexibility.

Carry 36 middle passengers on one voyage, transport more than 90 tons of bulk cargo on the next, then convert the vessel into a survey ship, medical transport, or mobile workshop for a government contract.

Why own several specialized vessels when one Ember can perform them all?

3. Flame, 300 Tons

The Flame is designed for operators whose businesses have outgrown the independent trader but who still require exceptional flexibility.

With capacity for five 30-ton modules, the Flame provides an ideal balance between cargo volume, passenger capacity, and specialized mission equipment.

The vessel is well suited for use as:

  • A regional passenger transport
  • A colonial supply vessel
  • A mining support ship
  • An expedition vessel
  • A mobile research platform
  • A mixed passenger and cargo carrier
  • A government or corporate support vessel

Whatever its configuration, the Flame retains full Jump 2 and 2G performance.

4. Flare, 400 Tons

The Flare modernizes the venerable subsidized merchant.

Equipped with Jump 2 and 2G drives, the Flare significantly outperforms the traditional Type R Subsidized Merchant in both speed and range while retaining excellent cargo capability.

Each vessel includes a standard 50-ton cutter, allowing cargo, passengers, vehicles, and specialized equipment to operate independently from the mothership.

The Flare can carry an impressive seven 30-ton modules, including one module carried aboard the cutter.

This provides up to 210 tons of modular cargo capacity, exceeding the approximately 200 tons of cargo space, Jump 1 capability, and 1G performance commonly found aboard the traditional Type R.

Whether operating as a subsidized merchant, colonial transport, passenger vessel, disaster-relief ship, or corporate support platform, the Flare delivers flexibility that conventional designs cannot match.

5. Fire, 500 Tons

The namesake of the series.

The Fire represents the point where modular logistics truly come into their own.

With capacity for nine 30-ton modules, the Fire can dedicate more than 270 tons of displacement to cargo, passenger facilities, mission systems, or specialized equipment.

That represents approximately 54 percent of the vessel's gross displacement.

Despite this exceptional carrying capacity, the Fire retains full Jump 2 and 2G performance.

The Fire is an ideal choice for:

  • Large independent shipping companies
  • Colonial governments
  • Military auxiliaries
  • Research organizations
  • Humanitarian relief agencies
  • Industrial and mining corporations
  • Passenger and freight operators

One voyage may carry bulk cargo. The next may transport passengers, vehicles, construction equipment, or a complete mobile hospital.

6. Blaze, 600 Tons

The Blaze is our 600-ton Type M liner.

It is equipped with:

  • Two 50-ton cutters
  • Capacity for ten 30-ton modules

Additional specifications and configuration options will be announced separately.

7. Bonfire, 700 Tons

The Bonfire is a 700-ton member of the Fire Class Modular Transporter family.

Additional specifications and configuration options will be announced separately.

8. Wildfire, 800 Tons

The Wildfire is an 800-ton member of the Fire Class Modular Transporter family.

Additional specifications and configuration options will be announced separately.

9. Inferno, 900 Tons

The Inferno is a 900-ton member of the Fire Class Modular Transporter family.

Additional specifications and configuration options will be announced separately.

10. Firestorm, 1,000 Tons

The pinnacle of the Fire Class family.

The Firestorm combines the versatility of the modular transporter concept with strategic logistics capabilities normally reserved for naval and megacorporate fleets.

Its enormous modular cargo bay can accommodate up to twenty 30-ton modules, or six 100-ton modules. Full flexibility allows a mixed layout of six 30-ton, four 100-ton modules, and a 50-ton cutter.

This gives the Firestorm the ability to transport:

  • Large quantities of commercial freight
  • Complete modular settlements
  • Industrial facilities
  • Hospitals and emergency response centres
  • Scientific laboratories
  • Command and communications centres
  • Military logistics modules
  • Colonial development equipment

When used as an X-Boat Tender, the Firestorm can carry any six of:

  • 100-ton X-Boats
  • 100-ton Spark scout ships
  • standard 100-ton mission modules

Mixed configurations are equally practical.

For example, the Firestorm can carry:

  • Four 100-ton vessels or modules
  • Eight additional 30-ton modules

The Firestorm may also be purchased with two 50-ton cutters. Each cutter occupies the space allocated to one 30-ton module.

The Firestorm is equally at home supporting frontier exploration, naval logistics, disaster relief, colonial expansion, X-Boat operations, and large-scale commercial transport throughout the Imperium.
